No logs means no logs. Not “logs we don’t talk about.”
This Policy outlines Backyard Bandwidth’s commitment to not collecting, storing, or retaining persistent logs of user activity across VPN, VPS, and S3 storage services.
- We can’t provide logs that don’t exist.
- Active sessions require minimal RAM-only state. That’s not “logging.”
- We comply with valid legal requests only to the extent we’re technically capable.
Agreement
This No Logs Policy (“Policy”) is part of our service rules. By using Backyard Bandwidth services, you acknowledge and accept that we do not store persistent logs and that we cannot provide data that does not exist in response to requests from law enforcement or third parties.
1. No Activity Logging Commitment
Backyard Bandwidth does not store persistent logs of user activity. Specifically:
- We do not store or retain VPN traffic logs.
- We do not log or track which websites users visit.
- We do not log VPN session durations or browsing history.
- We do not log VPS server activity.
- We do not maintain logs of S3 access or file activity as “user history.”
If you email support asking for “the logs,” the answer will be: “we don’t have them.” That’s the point. Don’t act surprised.
2. Operational Session Data (Transparency Statement)
Like all network services, VPN servers must temporarily maintain minimal connection state (e.g., current session IP address, routing tables, handshake status) in volatile memory only to keep your connection alive.
- Exists solely in RAM while the connection is active.
- Is never written to disk under any circumstances.
- Contains no browsing history, traffic content, or file access data.
- Is automatically and irreversibly erased upon disconnection or service restart.
Your session has to exist while it’s connected. That’s not logging. That’s networking.
3. Data Shredding & Permanent Deletion
- Once a VPS service is terminated, associated data is permanently deleted.
- VPN session state is RAM-only and ceases to exist when the session ends.
- There are no persistent “activity log files” stored on VPN or VPS systems as user history.
If you didn’t back up your VPS data, that is not a “privacy policy issue.” That is a “you issue.”
4. Law Enforcement & Legal Compliance
Backyard Bandwidth operates under United States jurisdiction and complies with applicable laws. Our infrastructure design means we generally cannot provide:
- VPN usage logs
- Browsing history
- VPN session timestamps after disconnection
- Original or assigned IP addresses after the session ends
- VPS activity logs
- S3 “user activity history” logs
We cooperate with legally binding requests only to the extent we are technically and physically capable. If served with a valid request for persistent logs, our response may be limited to confirming: we have no persistent logs to provide.
5. No Backups or Shadow Logging
Backyard Bandwidth does not maintain backups of operational session state and does not engage in hidden or “shadow” logging. Operational data is engineered not to persist beyond the active session.
6. No Third-Party Tracking
We do not use third-party tracking, analytics, or logging services that collect or sell user data. We do not partner with data brokers or advertising agencies. We are not building a marketing empire.
Tell us. Seriously. Either it’s a mistake, or you’re on the wrong domain.
7. Acceptance of This Policy
By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, discontinue use immediately.
8. Changes to This Policy
Backyard Bandwidth may update this No Logs Policy at any time. Changes are effective immediately upon posting. Continued use means you accept the updated version.
9. Disclaimer
We strive to maintain a secure and private infrastructure. Users are responsible for ensuring their own compliance with applicable laws and best security practices when using the platform.
If you decide to do illegal things, don’t email us later pretending this page is a “get out of consequences free” card. It isn’t.
