We collect as little as possible. Period.
We run infrastructure. That’s it. We’re not here to build profiles, sell data, or “learn your interests.” If you want a company that tracks everything: go literally anywhere else.
- We keep the minimum data needed to operate.
- We don’t log VPN activity. Not “we try,” we don’t.
- VPS data is deleted when the VPS is terminated.
- We temporarily store IPs for anti-abuse. That’s normal. Relax.
1. Agreement & Scope
This Privacy Policy governs your use of this website and all services provided through it. By accessing or using this website, you agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy, the Fair Use Policy, our Terms, and applicable laws and regulations of the United States. If you do not agree, discontinue use immediately.
2. Data Collection & Usage
We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide and improve services. We do not collect “because it’s nice to have.” If it’s not operationally required, it doesn’t belong here.
- Half of your email address for account verification and customer service.
- Your IP address may be temporarily stored for up to 24 hours for security and anti-abuse.
- We do not store browsing history, traffic contents, or connection metadata for VPN use.
- No selling your data.
- No “advertising partners.”
- No profile building.
- No “we keep it forever just in case.”
3. VPS Privacy Policy
Backyard Bandwidth does not log, track, or monitor user activity inside VPS instances. We do not sell, rent, or share your VPS data with third parties, except as required by law or as needed to provide the service.
Once a VPS has been terminated, all data associated with that VPS is permanently deleted. If you didn’t back it up, that’s on you.
To enforce our Fair Use Policy, we may collect basic network usage statistics such as total ingress/egress volumes per VPS instance. These are used solely to monitor bandwidth consumption and detect policy violations. They do not include payloads, browsing history, or content.
Once a VPS is deleted, the associated usage graph is also deleted.
4. VPN Privacy Policy
Backyard Bandwidth does not log, track, or store data related to VPN usage. Specifically, we do not:
- Log user traffic or the content of communications.
- Log which websites you visit.
- Store your original or assigned IP address as a VPN “activity log.”
- Log session durations or timestamps as activity history.
- Track or collect location-based data.
VPN activity data is not stored or retained in any form. VPN traffic is encrypted. If you want a VPN provider that keeps history, we are not it.
Some IP addresses used by our VPN services may be leased from third-party providers. We still enforce our no-logging stance on our side and do not intentionally create activity logs.
Note: We can’t control what an upstream provider logs on their own infrastructure. We choose providers carefully, but physics and the internet still exist.
5. Disclaimer
We strive to maintain a secure and reliable platform, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or absolute security. Users are responsible for their own compliance with applicable laws and for using the platform appropriately.
If you do something illegal, don’t expect “privacy policy” to be a magic shield. It isn’t.
